HSN STANDING COMMITTEES

Steering Committee:
The Steering Committee meets each month to provide strategic leadership and develop HSN policies. These meetings are open to any current HSN member organization.

Economic, Political and People Power Committee:

The purpose of this Committee is to reaffirm our founding missions as defenders of the social contract, incubators of civic renewal, and agents of social change.

Communications Committee:

The Committee meets on the first Wednesday of the month from 12 pm to 1 pm. The goal of the Communications Committee is to develop and implement media, social media and public outreach strategies and messages that:

• Raise the visibility and profile of health and human service nonprofits as essential service providers
• Increase public support for funding that enhances the sustainability of nonprofits
• Raise the profile of nonprofit workers and support for better wages
• Promote meaningful structural change that goes beyond short-term relief
• Support both short and longterm policy goals for our sector

Racial Equity Committee:

The goals of the Racial Equity Committee are to:

• Infuse budget advocacyand policywork with a racial equity lens
• Ensure additional funding and contract opportunities are available to organizations that serve primarilyBIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color)
• Build the racial equity muscle among HSN members (including coaching and training)
• Broaden HSN’s membership and outreach in disproportionately underfunded areas, particularly the Bayview
• Ensure the membership of HSN reflects the needs of the community by increasing HSN membership of BIPOC-led providers
