About SFHSN

HSN forms working committees as needed. HSN members who are interested in serving on any of these committees should contact info@sfhsn.org or call (415) 668-0444.

  • Steering Committee:
The Steering Committee meets each month to provide strategic leadership and develop HSN policies.

  • Public Policy Committee:
This Committee meets monthly for in-depth discussion of current issues. All members who are current in their dues are welcome to attend and to suggest agenda items. Please call (415) 668-0444 if you plan to come.

  • Operating Procedures Committee:
HSN is currently reviewing its operating policies and procedures. This Committee makes recommendations on issues related to membership, committees, meetings and planning.

  • Contract Reform Committee:
This committee was instrumental in writing and supporting the legislation that created the City's Nonprofit Contracting Task Force. They are now actively monitoring implementation of the Task Force's recommendations on contract reform. Most members of this committee served on the Task Force, but interested members are welcome to participate.

  • Homeless Policy Subcommittee:
The Homeless Subcommittee meets as needed to review developments in the City's planning and delivery of services to the homeless. This subcommittee was very active during the 2002 discussions about homeless policies. The subcommittee developed a position paper on the key steps that the City should take to address homelessness.

  • Labor Issues Subcommittee:
Both unionized and non-unionized nonprofits participate in HSN's Labor Issues Subcommittee. The subcommittee meets as needed to discuss issues surrounding the relationship between unions and nonprofits.

  • Nonprofit Outreach Committee:
The Nonprofit Outreach Committee meets as needed to develop strategies to educate and involve nonprofit staff in HSN activities.

  • New Realities Planning Committee:
This Committee is currently inactive. HSN has organized three nonprofit policy conferences. The planning committee determines the themes, program and agenda; identifies speakers and panelists; and oversees conference fundraising, expenditures and logistics.
